The Bahamas Representing the World Darts Federation World Cup in Japan

On October 3 -7 2017, the World Darts Federation World Cup was held in Kobe, Japan. The teams that are competing came from 31 different countries from around the world. The Bahamas Dart which are considered as the great soft tip darts in the world, Federation represented the Bahamas and consists of 4 men and 4 women, a captain, a team manager, and a coach from Nassau, Grand Bahama, and Abaco.

However, the Bahamas lost to Belgium with a score of 9-1 and to the Republic of Ireland with a score of 9-2 in the men’s team play. In the men’s doubles tournament, both of the teams were knocked out by the teams from the United States and Russia in the early rounds.  Overall, the Bahamas men’s team is placed at 24th by beating out Iceland, Luxembourg, and Turkey in the tournament.

On the other hand, the women’s team was victorious against Italy with a score of 9-4 but lost to Northern Ireland with a score of 8-9. The team advanced to the top sixteen but lost to Australia with a score of 9-2 in the single elimination during the first round. In doubles, both teams lost from Australia and Japan in the first round. The women’s team finished in 18th place with a tie against Hong Kong which is ahead of Italy, France, South Korea, and India to name a few.

Overall, it was a great tournament and a great experience for darts players to represent their country especially the Bahamas and Abaco. The team is also very grateful to their sponsors such as BTC and L C HULL for providing their uniforms. It would be hard and difficult to carry a team without the help of local sponsors.

The players definitely learned a lot from the competition and this experience will help them perform better in the upcoming world cups.
