Despite the on-again-off-again, see-sawing of the bout with former WBA heavyweight champion Evander Holyfield, Grand Bahamian professional boxer, Sherman "The Tank" Williams says he is ready to get in the ring.

While critics believe Williams is simply another pushover fighter for Holyfield, the local 'boy' said he is prepared to give Holyfield a good fight.

Williams had to endure the on-again-off-again decision, coming out of Holyfield's camp, for several months. "I kept training ... being mindful not to overdo things and I've kept in shape," said Williams in an interview with The Freeport News.

"I am used to this kind of on today, off tomorrow thing," he added, having experienced it on a number of occasions with different boxing camps.

"However, when they finally make up their minds to get into the ring with me I'll be there and I'll be in shape," added Williams.

Online critics have predicted that Holyfield at 48, is still a viable contender in the ring.

However, as his career continues to fade away, he is determined to defend his marginal World Boxing Feder-ation belt against Williams, who is 38, a heavy hitting athlete who can go the distance.

But the veteran says he is eager to prove that he is still good enough to fight the Klitschko brothers and WBA champion David Haye before he retires.

However, the chances of him fighting one of them are extremely slim.

Williams has won nine of his last 10 fights. He lost his most recent fight, in October 2009, when he was out-pointed over 10 rounds by Manuel Charr.

Holyfield has all the advantages in size and the experience of over 26 years in the ring. He is regarded as the clear favourite but Williams, even though he has been inactive for so long, is rugged enough to take Holyfield the full distance.

Holyfield and Williams will meet in White Sulphur, West Virginia, and live coverage of the tournament starts on SS 6 at 4:00 p.m.
