Chiefs get a pair of 'Darling' hands By BARBARA WALKIN Senior FN Reporter barbara@nasguard.com
With a near non-working tenure as part of the Baltimore Ravens, Bahamian professional football player Devard Darling is hoping to make contributions to his new team, the Kansas City Chiefs. As part of the Chiefs, Darling is hoping to be placed in the starting position as wide receiver; however, after experiencing a busy off-season Darling is looking forward to a new start with his new team. Darling, Chiefs coaches and administration are hopeful that the addition of the Bahamian player and the draft picks will turn the franchise around. Coming off a disappointing 4-12 campaign in 2007 the Chiefs are predicting that this season their offensive and defensive plays will improve tremendously. And of course, Darling figures right into their plans. In an online interview Darling said that he is looking forward to making valuable contributions to the team. "I am looking forward to showing them what I can do," he added. Darling noted that he was grateful for his time in Baltimore, and that he feels blessed to be a part of the Chiefs. Grand Bahamians became familiar with the young player when he began his football camp some two years ago under his As One Foundation. The camp which is held during the summer vacation is free to the participants. This year the schedule dates for the camp is July 7-8 in and July 10 -11 in Nassau. |
