After the final events were tallied, only eight points separated the winners of the Junior Division of the GBSSAA Island Track and Field 2010 Meet from the second place finishers. The Eight Blue Rock Blue Jays crept up and passed the Tabernacle Baptist Christian Academy Falcons, who led total points going into the final day of competition. The Blue Jays began collecting points early Monday afternoon when the final events got underway shortly after 4:00 p.m. at the Grand Bahama Sports Complex. And when the statisticians were finished totalling the scores, the Blue Jays had 413 points to take first place and the Junior Division title of the GBSSAA Track and Field Meet. The Blue Jays dominated in the U15 Boys' events. Their total score in that category was 137. In the U15 Girls' category they had 91; in the U13 Boys' they had a total 112 points and in the U13 Girls category they had a total of 73. The Falcons finished in second place with a total of 405 points. Their strongest category was the U13 Girls, where they had a total of 156 points. The next best category for the Falcons was the U15 Girls, where they had a total of 128 points. The boys', U13 and U15, categories combined for 121 points. The Warriors from Bishop Michael Eldon School were third with a total of 324.5 points; the Jack Hayward High Wildcats were fourth with 307; the GB Catholic High Crusaders were fifth with 260; Sister Mary Patricia was sixth with 218; Sunland Baptist Academy was seventh with 131.5; St. Georges was eighth with 94; St. Paul's had a total of 60 points and Alpha Omega finished in 10 place with zero. It was a different battle in the senior division, which saw the St. Georges High Jaguars taking first place and the title with 525 points. The Jaguars biggest numbers came in the U20 Boys (150) and U17 Boys (141) categories. The U17 and U20 Girls combined for a total 234 points. Ninety points separated the Jaguars from the second place finishers, the Jack Hayward High Wildcats who had a total of 435 points. The Wildcats strongest categories were the U17 and U20 Girls, with a combined total of 261 points. The U17 and U20 Boys combined for a total 174 points. Coming in third place were the GB Catholic High Crusaders with 356.5 points; the Bishop Michael Eldon Warriors finished in fourth position with 335 points; Sunland Baptist Stingers took fifth place with 277.5 points; Eight Mile Rock Blue Jays finished sixth with 206.5; Tabernacle Baptist Christian Academy Falcons were seventh with 200 points; St. Paul's Stingrays were eighth with 169.5 points and Alpha Omega closed out the scoring with 18 points. |
