Jack Hayward Senior High School 2012 graduates have big plans for the future

June 12, 2012 marked the beginning of a bright future for the 150 students that graduated from the Jack Hayward Senior High School (JHHS) under the theme, "Greatness- Dream! Believe! Plan! Pursue! Achieve!"

After a round of riveting speeches from their now former principal Yvonne L. Ward, District Superintendent for East Grand Bahama Sandra Edgecombe and the commencement speaker the Honorable Jerome Fitzgerald, Minister of Education, Science and Technology the graduates were excited to share with us their plans for the future.

Cadeem Musgrove, Valedictorian of the graduating class plans to attend a university in Georgia State to major in Natural Science. But like every good plan, one must also have a backup and Musgroove's own is to attend the College of the Bahamas and study Science and Mathematics. Cadeem won multiple awards such as Most Outstanding BGCSE Results, Arising Courier Award in Business Studies, Sylvanus Springer Award in Mathematics and Outstanding Subject Awards in Economics and Keyboarding.

Deanja Sturrup, Salutatorian and Head Girl said she would like to attend the University of Puerto Pico and obtain a Bachelor's degree in Chemical Engineering. Sturrup received Outstanding Subject Awards in Spanish, History, Mathematics, Biology and Academic Science.

Kenneth Miller, Head Boy graduated with Honors and gave an excellent and warm welcome to the crowd. He plans to attend the College of the Bahamas in hopes of becoming an Educator. Miller was awarded with the Outstanding Male Leadership Award, Speech and Debate Award and the Citizenship Award.

Ruddesha Strachan, Deputy Head Girl wishes to attend the University of South Florida to study Hospitality Management. Strachan was awarded Outstanding Subject Awards in Computer Studies, Food and Nutrition, Tourism Studies, Hospitality and Tourism Studies and the District Superintendent's Award.

Andello Forbes also graduated with Honors and he said he plans to go to Nova Scotia, Canada to get his Master's in Finance. Forbes received Outstanding Subject Awards in Business Studies Book-Keeping and Accounts, Health and Family Life, English Literature and the Principal's Award.

All of these graduates prove that with a little hard work and determination you can achieve greatness and in the end you will reap what you sow.
