Chamber of Commerce installs new officers

Scores of business professionals who are members of the local umbrella business organization attended the installation of its 2007 governing body during its annual banquet in the grand ballroom of the Westin and Sheraton at Our Lucaya.
Guest speaker for the event, Dr. Myles Munroe, delivered a rousing speech on the topic of innovation and leadership.
Munroe encouraged Bahamian business persons and in particular chamber members to be innovative in their solutions in order to enhance their business prospects for the future of the Freeport community.
He advised the gathering to learn from the Chinese culture in which there is no word for failure.
The world-renowned motivational speaker challenged those present to take time to examine the opportunities that can be utilised for the further growth and development of the economy of the island, in order that local business persons may be self-sufficient and successful.
Munroe is the senior pastor at the Bahamas Faith Ministries and founder of the Real Men's Ministry.
Installed as officers were Christopher Lowe, president; K. Peter Turnquest, treasurer; Kevin Seymour, first vice president; Donald Ward, second vice president, and Linda Gibson, secretary.
Directors include Carey Leonard, Cyril Cox, Angela Gibson, Christopher Gouthro, Dr. Barry Iseard, Greg Langstaff, Raymond Jones, Keva Turnquest, Paxton Cooper, Rembert Albury and Carmel Churchill.
Mercynth Ferguson continues to serve as executive director and administrator and Beverly Johnson as administrative assistant.
The purpose of The Grand Bahama Chamber of Commerce is to provide the network to sustain, promote, and support business development in an effort to encourage growth and expansion in the Grand Bahama economy and within a healthy and clean community environment.
