Leading the Pearls to the 21 - 9 victory over Flyers

As the 2006 season of the Grand Bahama Amateur Softball Association (GBASA) teams are "sharpening" their skills to compete for the playoffs.

As games continued Friday night the BTC Communicators won over the BORCO Flames 21 - 6 in ladies fast pitch action.

LaToya Humes was the winning pitcher at centre mound for the BTC team. Alverne Hall was on the mound for the Flames and was tagged with the loss.

Communicators' Chey-enne Bain was three for four with a home run, two singles and four RBIs. Team-mate Towanna Romer was also three for four with a home run, two singles and two RBIs.

In game two Triple Play Pearls won over the Bahamasair Flyers 21-9.

The "pitching machine" Nerissa Lockhert the winning pitcher had eight strike-outs.

Michelle Culmer had to settle for the loss.

Pearls' Lockhart not only contributed on the defence, but also on the offence recording three for four, with a triple, two singles and three RBIs.

The lone contributor for the Flyers was Raquelle Cooper, who was two for four with two home runs.

Play continued on Saturday with two games played in co-ed action.

Game one saw the Police Enforcers, formerly the Pepsi Enforcers, slipping by Me N' U 9 - 5.

Craig Wallace was centre diamond for the Enforcers in the win, while Hansel Collie was saddled with the loss.

The Police Enforcers were back on the diamond minutes later this time going bat to glove with the Coopers Destroyers.

For the second time in the night the Enforcers were successful beating the Destroyers 20 - 14. This time Brian "Ninja" Neely was pitching fire from the mound for the Enforcers.

Leon Cooper Jr., was tagged with the loss for the Destroyers.

Then on Sunday the Kalik Panthers won over the Winn Dixie Packers 19 - 5 in men's slow pitch play.

Ricardo "Mr. Sports" Lightbourn was the winning pitcher in this one, while Jermaine Smith was issued the loss.

In game two the Police Enforcers returned to the diamond to face the Winn Dixie Stackers.

The Enforcers' Neely was back at centre mound for the 18 - 5 win in co-ed action. Heraldo Miller settled for the loss.

Enforcers' brother duo of Renaldo and Ricardo Rolle contributed to the team's win. Renaldo was three for three with three home runs, while Ricardo recorded three for three, two home runs and a double.

Softball play continues on Wednesday at 7:00 p.m. when the Triple Play Pearls take on BTC Communicators in ladies' fast pitch action.

Then at 8:30 p.m. Hong Kong Cuisine will take on Chances Panthers in men's fast pitch play.

The schedule for the remainder of the week looks like this — on Friday, August 19 at 7:00 p.m. Bahamasair Flyers will face the BORCO Flames and then at 8:30 p.m. BTC Communicators will play Triple Play Pearls.

Saturday games continue at 5:00 p.m. with co-ed action between Cooper's Destroyers and Me N' U.'

Then at 6:30 the BLT Blazers will face Legacy Youth in men's slow pitch and the final game Chances Panthers will go up against Union, in men's fast pitch.
