Hubert A. Ingraham, Free National Movement (FNM) leader and former Prime Minister, will be in Grand Bahama this weekend to celebrate in grand style, the party's first election victory that occurred on August 19, 1992.

Plans for the weekend were announced yesterday by Member of Parliament for High Rock Kenneth Russell at a press conference held at FNM headquarters.

Russell said that the weekend will kick off on Saturday at 12 noon with a family fun day taking place on the grounds of the FNM Headquarters.

"We will have food, games, volleyball and a dominoes tournament for all those who believe that they can play dominoes," Russell said. "The day will also give many the opportunity to come out and speak with members of Parliament and perspective members of Parliament and get their views."

Russell said although Ingraham will also be speaking in Eleuthera and New Providence on Saturday, at 8 p.m. he will join them to fellowship and address all those in Grand Bahama.

Stating that he believes Ingraham will be speaking generally on some of the historic facts of the FNM, Russell revealed that he also believes Ingraham will concentrate basically on getting individuals to come out and register themselves in order to vote in the upcoming elections.

"The fact that we believe that elections are sooner than before now, we want persons to be ready whenever that happens because without you being registered, you don't have a say in the country and your voice can't be heard," he said.

The High Rock MP said he does not believe Ingraham will announce plans on candidates for the upcoming election, mainly because the party is still going through the process in some cases.

"We do expect to have meetings starting in early September so by the time we have rallies here in Freeport, Eleuthera and New Providence, we will be able to announce most of the candidates at that time," he said.

The weekend that will end with a church service at Calvary Temple at 10 a.m., on Sunday. Russell said he hopes all supporters will come out and take part in the events planned for this weekend.

"We are asking all to come out and celebrate and interact with us and find out what we are about," he said. "Because we believe that mixing together, coming together and working together is a way we can bring our community together as one."
