Following the elections on Monday, Democratic National Alliance (DNA) candidate for East Grand Bahama issued a statement congratulating the new Prime Minister Rt. Hon. Perry Christie and her opponent, and successor Peter Turnquest.

She noted that on election day the people of The Bahamas exercised their right to vote and overwhelmingly supported the Progressive Liberal Party as the government of the Commonwealth of The Bahamas.

"I especially wish to thank the hardworking people of the East Grand Bahama Democratic National Alliance Team, who believed in the DNA and me, and in the midst of many challenges gave unselfishly of their time and efforts over the past three months.

"To those who supported me and the DNA at the polls, I thank you and appreciate you. You demonstrated courage and a strong desire for real change and a better Bahamas. Be assured that I will continue to work for and with you to ensure that both the government and Mr. Turnquest are aware of and responsive to your needs and the issues that pertain to East Grand Bahama Constituency.

"Remember, the power of the people is greater than the people in power. May God continue to bless you and the people of The Bahamas."
