In a brief statement from the Free National Movement on Thursday, party officials say the theatrics of the purchase of the Silver Sands Hotel by the PLP candidate for Marco City, Greg Moss, confirms what the FNM has been saying all along.
"Moss continues to play on the emotions of voters talking about how bad and tough things are on Grand Bahama, but he is not able to genuinely identify, he has done extremely well under the FNM. Further, Greg Moss is too closely connected to former GBPA Chairman, Hannes Babak, and big money clients to feel the plight of the people of Marco City," the release maintained.
"Even PLPs did not approve of Moss' nomination because they are fully aware of his superior complex;" the brief release added.
According to the FNM statement, the announcement of the purchase which is by a partnership that involves Moss, was strategically staged days before the election to suggest he will be in a position to give jobs.
"No big money spending and bully like tactics will persuade the people of Marco City to vote for a man who has no record of hands-on community service and has yet to present his family publicly," the statement said.
Moss executed an agreement to purchase the Silver Sands Hotel on Royal Palm Way Friday for over $1 million, this daily reported in an article published Thursday, May 3.
Moss estimated that renovation of the dilapidated hotel property would cost in excess of $5 million.
Moss reached the agreement with the owners of the Silver Sands Hotel - Kensington International Management Company Limited - through his investment company, C-Three Investments Limited.
"This is not pie in the sky pretense that something like that is easy to do, but certainly within the first few weeks you'll see it being cleaned up, then within the first nine months or so you'll see the redevelopment start. It should be opening, running and flourishing during the course of the next two years," he said.
