Bodybuilders, fitness and figure athletes are putting the final touches on their physiques and routines in hopes of creating that edge that would lure the favour of the judges and the praise of the crowd.
All the effort and hard work will be for the sole purpose of trying to walk away with the coveted trophy in the Grand Bahama Bodybuilding and Figure Championship, set for this Saturday at the Regency Theatre.
It's been a while since Grand Bahama hosted local and national athletes on a stage here in Freeport. Bodybuilding fans have been salivating for the next show, eager to see what's hot in the world of Bahamian bodybuilding.
Saturday will give them a chance to see who's the next big thing in Bahamian bodybuilding. According to organisers, fans will not be disappointed.
Names like Rob "Big Rob" Harris, Ray Whylly, Tammy Stubbs, Andrew Sweeting, and Dominique Wilkinson, along with some new faces from Grand Bahama.
There are expected to be athletes coming in from Nassau, Abaco and Long Island. Omar Daly out of Long Island is expected to bring eight athletes from Long Island for the Show and Arthur Eldon, the long time bodybuilding cowboy from Abaco will be in town, along with other athletes from Abaco.
"This show should be a very exciting one," said Danny Sumner, President of The Bahamas Bodybuilding Federation in Nassau. "We're expecting that athletes from Nassau and Grand Bahama will make this Show extremely competitive."
Local bodybuilders are pumped about the show and are hoping for stiff competition from Nassau athletes. Some Nassau-based athletes will be using the show as a warm up for the Nationals, which is set for July 18 in Nassau.
"It's going to be a fun show and we want the public to come out and be a part of this show, because it's going to be very exciting," added Sumner.
Saturday's show is set to begin at 7 p.m.
Special guest poser will be American female bodybuilder, Debbie Laszewski, who is no stranger to Grand Bahama, having been a part of The Bahamas versus the United States competition which was held three years ago.
Debbie is an outstanding female bodybuilder, who has a body that is the envy of many male bodybuilders. She was a crowd favourite when she came to Grand Bahama.
The stage is set, the lights are in place and soundtracks to which each respective athlete will pose to, are being tagged and ready for the DJ.
