Armed robbery and shooting being investigated by police Grand bahama police are investigating a burglary and armed robbery incident that was reported early Sunday morning. Fortune Point resident Ernest Cooper told police that around 3:30 a.m. he was asleep at home when he was awakened by the sound of glass breaking and was accosted by two dark males, one armed with a shotgun and the other a cutlass. Police reports further stated that the men demanded cash and robbed Cooper and his two house-guests of an undetermined amount of money along with other personal items and fled in his rented grey Nissan Almera r/n SD 1189. Police officers have since discovered the vehicle abandoned on Coral Fish Street in Caravel Beach. An islandwide search is under way for the two culprits involved and anyone with information that would assist the police in this investigation is asked to call 350-3107/8 or 911. Meanwhile, authorities are looking into a shooting incident that left one Caravel Beach resident injured. Initial reports revealed that at about 9:55 p.m. on Friday, June 27, the nursing supervisor at the Trauma Section of the Rand Memorial Hospital contacted the duty officer at the Police Dispatch Centre in Freeport and reported that a man had just been brought there suffering from a gunshot wound to his left knee. Officers proceeded to the hospital, where they saw 30 -year-old Navardo Burrows of Imperial Park, Caravel Beach, being treated for his injuries. Burrows stated that he and some friends were at Cora''s Place on Sergeant Major Road, playing a game of dominoes, when a man wearing a blue hood, blue jeans pants and dark shades, approached them, pulled out a handgun and opened fire at them. While attempting to flee, Burrows said he was shot in the left knee and fell to the ground. The unidentified gunman then fled on foot across the Metro Service Station premises, where he got into a vehicle that was parked in the dark area and sped off from the scene. Central Detective Unit officers have launched an investigation into this incident. Burrows is listed in stable condition at the Rand. |
