Can't Social Services use some discretion?

Dear Editor,

Please allow me space to address the Department of Social Services openly.

Dear Social Service manager, do you know what discretion is?

I am a mother (not emp-loyed) having to depend on the Food Voucher I receive from your department, mon-thly. That alone has stripped me of my dignity!

Now, here I am with school opened on Monday, August 30 and I am told by your office that I can't receive my Food Voucher until Wednes-day, September 1!

That means that my kids will go to school without breakfast and no dinner to come home to until Wednes-day evening.

I hate depending on Social Services, but haven't been able to secure a job yet.

Do you think in situations like school opening you can use some DISCRETION, or ask Mrs. Butler-Turner to give you permission to at least assist the mothers?

You have records, so you will know who we are when we present ourselves to you.

Sincerely,

A Mother.
