How good is your multi-vitamin formula? Holistic Approach To Health By Juledor Corneille
In a previous column, we looked at how effective a multi-vitamin should be. I want to continue that discussion, because there are so many aspects to this that we need to cover. Let me begin with this simple question, how do you know if what you are taking is what you need? This is the question I ask most people who go looking for a multi-vitamin, and they are sometimes afraid to answer. But when they start to understand and see the errors to their ways then they start to respect the beauty of the difference in certain multi-vitamins. Let's go deeper - when you work around chemicals of any kind for years, you think the regular vitamin formula will address all your needs, but the truth is, doing that kind of work means you will need extra of certain vitamins compared to someone who doesn't work around chemicals all day. When you have high blood pressure you would need more than just a few blood pressure pills and some regular multi-vitamin formula off the shelf. What do I mean by this? Well, when a person is hypertensive, for the most part, they also have a nutritional deficiency, which may show up in certain symptoms like weakness in the leg, dry mouth and muscle twitching. These are ways that the body is telling you that it needs some extra stuff to keep functioning properly. As a diabetic, you may be under the notion that any over the counter vitamin would address your vitamin supplementational needs, but think again. Say for instance, as a diabetic you have gas and nausea, the first thing you have to do is, you need to address those discomforts, but before you can take just anything to deal with that, you have to consider how much sugar is running through your veins. When your sugar goes out of control, you know you have a serious problem on your hands. Your cholesterol becomes elevated and as a diabetic you have plenty of the bad cholesterol and little of the good ones, so now you are seeing the condition of your arteries and what they have to deal with on a daily basis. Then consider your mental state because of this. Such mental stress squeezes those blood vessels even tighter, and then imagine consuming too much salt, which squeezes those blood vessels even more. No one dies from high blood pressure or diabetes, rather people die from complications from these ailments. So once you keep those complications under wraps you can live a very productive life. But just how do you live a productive life? You educate yourself about your disease, so that when you see your health care provider you can bargain better for your health. There are questions you can ask your doctor that would prevent your disease from progressing even further. You can ask questions now that you can find answers to, which in turn means that you might be able to stop something from happening five years down the road. If you are working two jobs like a lot of people I know, just a regular vitamin is not enough and even if it is a superior formula, you still need more than a good multi formula, you would also need supporting nutrients to help speed up your recovery. There are so many people out there whose body just shuts down on them. Yes their body stops moving because they are doing too much and not putting back what was removed. I have known pastors, family men working and participating in other activities, who just shut down. Even persons trying out for the police force find this happening to them. The thing is if you do not take care of your body, your body will not take care of you. One more thing, please read your labels on your vitamin bottles, okay? Thank you.
