2014 Anglican Schools Festival Preview: The Schools to beat

by: Buster Laing, GrandBahamaSports.com

The Anglican Schools Festival is about pageantry, school pride, lifelong dreams and competitive ideals. And it is about winnings.

In 2012 the host school, Bishop Michael Eldon Warriors, once again ruled the softball, basketball, swimming and soccer field as they won their Ninth Anglican School Festival that was held over a four-day period on Grand Bahama.

The Warriors amassed 212.5 points, winning by 20 points over runner-up St. Anne's 192.5.

St. John's finished third with 130, while St. Andrews finished fourth with 45.

With the win, the Warriors have built a dynasty among the Anglican Schools having won nine of the past 19 ASF championships, including five of the past six championships, followed by St. John's with six and St. Anne's with two titles.

The four-day event saw over 800 visiting students from the three high schools and a record attendance of over 2,900 to witness the basketball game at St. Georges.

We will explore who the favorites are heading into competition on Wednesday, with the swimming championships at 12:00 p.m. at St. John's College Pool.
