Intercession is petitioning God on the behalf of others, but it is also standing against the forces of the darkness on their behalf as well. The prayer of petition and the prayer of supplication is the same as intercessory prayer, where you are standing on behalf of others. When we pray the prayer of intercession, not only are we approaching the Throne of Grace on behalf of the lost, the hurting, the hopeless, the wounded, ministries of the Gospel, our cities, the nations etc. we are also commanding the forces of darkness to stop in their operations and cease in their maneuvers in Jesus’ mighty name. We are praying people out of darkness and into the kingdom of God’s dear Son; we are invading the demonic realm and we had better realize that if the enemy sees an opening he will come against us in an attempt to hinder our prayers, and even if possible, to stop and destroy us. When you are moved by the Holy Spirit in intercessory prayer you may find yourself coming against the forces of darkness on behalf of those or what you are praying for. It is clearly shown in scripture as well for Daniel the prophet of God was given this revelation as he interceded and sought God on behalf of the people of Israel, his people. He had been in intercession for them, confessing their sins and pleading with God on their behalf. God had revealed some things to him, things he did not clearly understand. So he continued to seek God and even set himself on a partial fast as he waited upon God.
In the book of Joel Chapter 2:17 it reads, “let the priests, the porch and the alter, and let them say spare your people, o Lord, and give not your heritage to reproach that the heathen should rule over them: why should they say among the people, where is their God?” Why should our nation be given over to the wicked or powers of darkness, when God is saying to his people come together and pray, fast intercede on behalf of our nation, our families, our churches’ leadership, our schools, workplaces, community to be loose from the power of darkness, spiritually wickedness in high places, corruption everywhere. It’s time to cry out to our God on behalf of our people in this nation, our nation is becoming lawless, no order, but God can bring order; He can put things back into place. Daniel chapter 9 & 10 tells us that after 21 days, an angel appeared to him (Daniel) and revealed to him that God had heard and answered his prayer from the first day he began seeking the Lord, but a demonic spirit (called the prince of Persia), withstood the angel who was bringing the message. However, as a result of Daniel’s persistence in prayer and intercession, God sent Michael the arch-angel and warrior angel from heaven to fight against this prince of Persia, which is why we have to declare war on the enemy. He will try to stop what God wants to do in our nation; we say in the name of Jesus not so, we know that the devil came to kill, steal and destroy, but Jesus has given us power and authority over all the works of darkness.
2 Corinthians 10:5 says, “The weapons of our warfare are not carnal, but mighty through God to the pulling down of strongholds.” 2 chronicles 7:14 declares, “If my people, who are called by my name will humble themselves and pray and seek my force and turn from their wicked ways then I will hear from heaven, and I will forgive their sins and will heal their land.” Our land is sick and needs healing; let us turn from our wicked ways so God can hear us and heal our land. There’s a generation to save.
Let us Pray: Father we come to you in the Name of Jesus, repenting of our sins, asking you to forgive us and heal our land. For your word declares in Psalm 33:12, “Blessed is the nation whose God is the lord.” So we thank you that as we repent and turn from our evil ways, you will hear from heaven and heal our land. We thank you and praise you for perfecting those things which concern us in Jesus’ name I pray, Amen.
