Sadness expressed over death of GB Humanitarian
Humanitarian Stephen M. Dillet passed away this week leaving quite a hole in many lives in Grand Bahama and Nassau.
President of Algoma Adjusters Carlton Jones said Dillet worked with them from February 1982 beginning at the office in Nassau before being transferred to Grand Bahama to establish the office here.
“He was a very good worker,” said Jones. “He went to Freeport and worked in the Algoma Adjusters office then he was stolen by another company, and then we got him back.
“He was a man who was very detailed in his work. He was a personable individual and he was a Rotarian.”
Dillet was a member and former President of the Rotary Club of Lucaya from which quite a number of his Rotarians had many good things to say about him.
Roger Pinder commented on Facebook, “God speed you to a place of comfort and rest Steve and my deepest sympathy, Heather.”
Former Assistant District Governor Peter Turnquest, who is also the Member of Parliament for East Grand Bahama, commented, “Many will remember you for your valuable contributions locally through tennis, the Anglican Church and of course your community work through the Rotary Club of Lucaya and internationally through Rotary International District 6990 as Assistant Governor.
“You were an inspiration and friend to many and a wonderful and proud husband to Heather and father to Shari and Vejay and of course a doting grandfather. May God grant you your perfect rest and freedom from pain and sorrow and the family the comfort and peace that surpasses all understanding. Until then my good friend.”
