The Grand Bahama Port Authority is getting involved in the 40th independence celebrations in the country by offering 40 percent
off the sale of some 122 lots.
In an aggressive marketing plan, sales agents are taking their message not only through the media but direct marketing through meetings with various businesses.
Speaking with head of the Sales Department Paula Von Hamm on Wednesday morning she said the promotion began on May 1 and ends on July 10.
Asked if it had anything to do with the impending discussions on Real Property Tax she said no, this is only an Independence promotion.
However she said, " You would be surprised, but those Nassauvians are buying them up!"
She noted that persons interested can go into their offices to look at the properties, and with the help of an agent to assess the type of areas, abilities and budget they would they have.
"We have properties starting from $18,000 and up," she said. " All they have to do is come up with 10 percent. So obviously if it's $18,000 then you only have to come up with $1,800 which many people can afford, and then you pay us monthly over a 10-year period."
It is noted that no bank need be involved in this transaction as payments can be made directly to the Grand Bahama Development Company.
"This is an opportunity, because things are tough for everybody, so we have to be cognizant of that and we have bent over backward for that 40 percent.
"We are trying to empower Bahamians on their 40th Anniversary," Von Hamm added.
