Real Estate

â God, grant me the serenity to accept the things I cannot change; courage to change the things I can; and wisdom to know the difference.⠝

Why is James Sarles writing about the Serenity Prayer and what does the Serenity Prayer have to do with Real Estate you may ask. Well the answer is simple because this prayer is very appropriate for any of you who are in the Freeport Real Estate Market. Somethings in Real Estate in Freeport you canâ t change and somethings you can and the wisdom to know the difference is the key to Real Estate Success!

You may be frustrated while attempting to buy or sell property in our slow market. You may feel that your home will never sell and that Freeport will never take off.

How could YOU possibly know if our market really will take off or if you buy your purchase will be a good investment. There is no doubt that todayâ s real estate market is extremely difficult to navigate.

Will Sunwing bring new buyers to the market?

Will the Port Authority and the Government work together to move Freeport forward so the Real Estate Market thrives again?

So many questions that do not have a definitive answer however, it is important to know that around the world thousands of homes sold yesterday, thousands will sell today and thousands will sell each and every day from now until the end of the year.

In Freeport there are buyers who are looking to buy and sellers looking to sell and there will be transactions occurring. Real Estate follows cycles and down markets turn to up markets and up markets turn to down markets.

Our market may be slow but there is movement. You of course want to know is this the right time to buy and sell?

It is totally within your power to decide whether it is the right time for you to buy or sell even in our current market.

Letâ s look at the simplicity of the famous Serenity Prayer and apply it to buying or selling property in todayâ s real estate market.

â God, grant me the serenity to accept the things I cannot change; courage to change the things I can; and wisdom to know the difference.⠝

Accept the things you cannot change

The main concerns many talk about when discussing the property market are The Current Economy and the soft market. As an individual, there is very little you can do to impact this situation. The market is what it is and the economy will recover or stagnate a little longer no matter what you do.

Have the courage to change the things you can

If you are a buyer and you believe now is the right time to buy property. JUST DO IT as NIKE says! Prices will only be higher in the future and though interest rates are rising they are still at historic lows. That means that your monthly housing expense will still be lower than almost any time in the last 50 years and probably lower than your current rent payment. If you have been sitting on the fence waiting for the right time donâ t be a â woulda coulda shoulda⠝ make the move and get in the game.

The wisdom to know the difference

We all realize that the economic situation will take some time to correct. The question is whether or not it makes sense to delay moving on with your life until everything gets â better.⠝

Should you not buy a house and wait and wait until everything is perfect?

Should you wait for the Government and the Port Authority to solve all the problems before you make your move?

This is where your wisdom must kick in. You already know

the answers to the questions just asked. You have the power to take back control of the situation by moving forward. The time has come for you to move on and start living the life you desire. That is what truly matters. If you want to stop being a renter go meet with the bank and see what you qualify for and buy what you can afford.

If you want to sell and use that cash for something else, put it on the market at a reasonable price and move on. If you want to buy an investment property call a real estate broker today and see whats out there.

There are many things you canâ t change but there many things you can change and you will never succeed or move forward if you donâ t accept the fact that you do have the power to make change if you have a little courage. I truly believe our collective optimism and movement will help move our economy forward because its really about consumer confidence.

I wish you all good luck and wisdom with your real estate decisions this week and in the future. Happy Independence Bahamas! I look forward to the future.

Until next week.
