Two walks, two islands, two worthy causes Atlantic Medical Insurance is celebrating “Sweet 16” years of Fun walks in The Bahamas on Saturday, April 12, 2014 at 6:30 a.m.
“All together better” is again the theme for our annual event in support of the Cancer Society of The Bahamas and The Bahamas Diabetic Association having contributed hundreds of thousands of dollars towards their educational programs.
For the first time in the history of our walks we will stage them simultaneously.
The Freeport walk will commence at Atlantic Medical’s office in The Jasmine Corporate Center heading to East Sunrise Highway onto The Lucayan Circle and returning to the Jasmine Corporate Center, and approximate distance of 3.2 miles.
The Nassau walk will commence on Montague Beach to Shirley Street onto Church Street over the “old” Paradise Island Bridge and back to Montague Beach.
The fun walk is our signature event and aligns with our commitment to stimulating people into developing healthier lifestyles by simply incorporating a brisk walk in their regular routines, says Lisa Turnquest, Account Executive/ Office Manager for Atlantic Medical.
Turnquest added that, “Even though there are trophies awarded for top finishers in the walk, the participation by the masses is the true objective of the event for us.”
The fun walk gift pack is filled with items that will encourage you to continue to walk beyond the day of the fun walk and make walking a part of a healthier lifestyle for you. It includes a T-shirt, a salad shaker, a tote bag, neon armband and an mp3 player armband all for $15 (adults) and $12 (students).
“We are extremely pleased with the continued support received from corporate Grand Bahama who have stepped forward to help to make this event the success it has been for the past years. Companies such as: FOCOL, Kelly’s Freeport Ltd, National Workers Credit Corporate Union (NWCCU), Pelican Bay Hotel, BTC, Island Springs, Sky Bahamas, Y.M.C.A, Gizmos and Gadgets.
“Our international partners-Cleveland Clinic (Weston), Broward Health System and Baptist Hospital (South Florida) are also participating in this year’s event with specialty booths and giveaways.
“We are really encouraging more group participation in our walk because we know that people are more motivated by group activities. We are always pleased when we find that these “fun walk” groups continue to walk collectively beyond the Fun walk namely churches, sororities, families, fraternities, co-workers as they become committed to this form of exercise.”
Pre-registration is encouraged; simply fax your registration form to (242)351-7442 and your Fun Walk gift pack will be ready for pick up at our office.
